Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Education Project.

The Project aims to increase access to safe water and sanitation for marginalized communities and ensure participation of women in sound water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) management practices.



The project supported by Australian agency for international development involves activities such as Construction of Water and Sanitation facilities for Households, Communities and Schools, training women and other stakeholders in adoption of Rain Water Harvesting Technologies to improve water, sanitation and Hygiene, contribute to capacity-building in water and sanitation for rural communities, improve heath and increased attendance of children in Schools, Establishment of Water User Committees and school health clubs, community led total sanitation, Planning and advocacy meetings, consultative meetings, participatory monitoring and evaluation, dialogues, Documenting and dissemination of community voices and media campaigns for advocacy on issues that need attention or facilitation and formation of community based monitors and evaluators.

Rain Water Harvesting tanks have been constructed for households, communities and Schools in Water stressed areas, established women groups and strengthened existing ones such as Kashongati Women Group, Kihira Women Group, Rurembo Women Group and Kankiiro Women Group among others thinking of innovative ways of how to improve the social and economic situation of their households.
